ATMOSFAR System Requirements: Can Your PC Run It?

ATMOSFAR is a large, volumetric world with a lot of transparency, weather and flying geometry. Its official requirements reflect that: the GPU floor is higher than the CPU floor, and the storage estimate doubles between minimum and recommended.

What the specs mean in practice

The GPU floor is the real gate

An RTX 2070 is a capable 1080p card, but it is not a low-end GPU. If you are on a GTX 1660, an RX 580 or an integrated GPU, you are below the minimum and should not expect a playable experience.

The RX 6700 XT on the minimum side is roughly comparable to an RTX 2070 in raster performance, which confirms the intent: 1080p at modest settings.

8GB RAM is tight

Eight gigabytes is the minimum for the game to run, not a comfortable amount for a large open world plus a browser and chat client. If you have 8GB, close everything else. If you have 16GB, you are at the recommended level and should be fine.

CPU: a wide range

The minimum i5-7500 is a four-core CPU from 2017. The recommended i7-14700K is a current high-end chip. That gap suggests the game scales with CPU for simulation and building, but does not require a modern CPU to run at all.

For a building game with physics and many simulated objects, a faster CPU helps late-game ships and busy co-op sessions more than it helps the first hour.

Storage: 25GB or 50GB?

The store lists 25GB minimum and 50GB recommended. The difference is likely texture quality and future content. If you have the space, give it 50GB; an Early Access game that patches frequently will grow.

An SSD is not listed, but it is strongly advisable. Large open worlds stream assets constantly, and a hard drive will produce stutter and long loads.

Can you run it? Quick verdicts

Performance tips

• Lower volumetric and cloud settings first. They are the most expensive effects in a game about flying through clouds.
• Cap the frame rate. A stable 40–60 fps feels better than a fluctuating 80.
• Reduce draw distance before reducing textures. Pop-in is less distracting than mush.
• Close background apps on 8GB systems. The game will thank you.
• Install on an SSD. Streaming stutter is the most common complaint in open-world Early Access games.
• Avoid 4K on the minimum spec. 1080p is the target for the minimum GPU.

Co-op and network

• A broadband connection is required for online co-op.
• Single-player does not require a persistent connection, but the game is sold through Steam and uses Steam services.
• Four-player sessions put more load on the host's CPU and network. If the host is on the minimum CPU, expect simulation slowdown before graphics problems.

FAQ

Is 8GB RAM enough? For the minimum spec, yes. For comfort, 16GB.

Do I need an RTX card? No. The minimum lists both NVIDIA and AMD cards; any GPU around RTX 2070 / RX 6700 XT performance should work.

Will it run on a GTX 1080? It is below the stated minimum. It may launch, but performance is not guaranteed.

Is 25GB really enough? For the base install, yes. The recommended 50GB leaves room for patches and higher-quality assets.

Does the game support ultrawide? Not documented. Assume standard 16:9 is the tested configuration.
