Atmosfar Pearl Island guide: camp, loot, when to leave

Pearl Island is Atmosfar's tutorial island and the site of the PACE foundry. Where to camp, what to loot first, and when the starting zone runs dry.

Atmosfar Pearl Island guide: camp, loot, when to leave

The short answer: Pearl Island is the starting story site in the Caligo Cays, and it holds the PACE foundry where the opening tutorial takes place. Build your first camp on the shore near the geyser, strip the foundry and the abandoned camps before you leave, and move on once you have a working airship and a Hauler route. The island is a tutorial, not a permanent base.

This guide covers what is actually on the island, the camp spot that saves the most travel time, and the checklist that tells you when to stop farming it.

What Pearl Island is

Pearl Island is a small landmass in Caligo Cays, the lower starting region of Atmosfar. It is not a separate map or a DLC area — it is the first place the story puts you, and it is designed to teach the loop:

  1. Land and set up a camp.
  2. Recover salvage from the PACE foundry.
  3. Build a Wasp.
  4. Fly to the next island for hydrogen and better salvage.

The map and regions guide covers how Caligo Cays fits into the wider world. Pearl Island is the anchor point at the bottom of that progression.

The PACE foundry

The foundry is the largest structure on the island and the reason the tutorial happens here. It is a PACE facility rather than a natural landmark, which means:

  • Salvage is concentrated. Structural scrap, pipes and panels are stacked in the yard rather than scattered across the beach.
  • Circuit boards are inside. The electronics you need for early crafting come from the facility interior, not the dock.
  • It is guarded. Drones patrol the foundry. The tutorial walks you through the first few; after that you are on your own.
  • It has machinery rooms. Players report the ship chain brings you back to PACE sites for reactor cores. Do not strip every machine for scrap on your first visit.

If you are short on circuit boards in the first hour, the foundry is the answer. The scrap guide explains which pieces are worth hauling and which are bait.

Loot in passes, not in one trip

Your first backpack is small. Clear the foundry yard, drop the salvage at camp, then go back inside for the electronics. Carrying everything at once means walking past loot you cannot pick up.

Where to build the first camp

The best first camp site is on the shore near Pearl Island, close to water and a geyser, with a clear landing approach. That combination is not cosmetic:

Requirement Why it matters
Near water Early crafting and cooling; less running for the basics
Near a geyser Hydrogen crystals without a long Wasp flight
Clear approach Your first Wasp landing is manual and unforgiving
Flat ground Camp modules snap cleanly and do not clip

Do not build inside the foundry. It looks convenient, but the drones respawn and the interior is dark, cramped and hard to defend. A shore camp gives you space to expand and a runway for the Wasp.

The camp hub guide covers module order: storage first, then crafting bench, then the plant bed. Building a bed before you have storage means food spoils while you are still sorting salvage.

What to loot before you leave

Pearl Island is generous by design, and it is easy to over-farm. The items that actually matter for the next region:

  • Circuit boards. The early bottleneck. Take every one.
  • Structural scrap. Enough for a Hauler hull and camp expansion, not every panel on the dock.
  • Hydrogen crystals. From the geyser, until you can refine liquid hydrogen.
  • Seeds and plant fibre. For the first plant bed; these do not spawn everywhere.
  • Blueprints and research drives. From the foundry's interior terminals. These unlock crafting tiers, not just items.

Leave the low-value loose scrap once your storage is full. It respawns slowly and the next island has better material.

When to leave Pearl Island

Leave when you can answer yes to all four:

  1. You have a working airship with a reactor and enough lift to carry cargo.
  2. You have a Hauler, or a route that does not need one yet.
  3. Your camp produces food without daily foraging.
  4. The foundry is stripped of circuit boards and research items.

The first region is not a place to build a permanent base. Caligo Cays has a second, higher region above it, and the Rime region comes later in Early Access. Staying on Pearl Island past the tutorial means flying further for every resource.

Common mistakes on the starting island

  • Building the reactor before the balloons. The correct order is balloons, reactor, hull, modules, cargo. Reversing it wastes an hour.
  • Selling the foundry machinery. You need one reactor core from a PACE site; stripping the room can cost you the return trip.
  • Ignoring the geyser. Hydrogen is the fuel chain. A camp without a geyser is a camp with a daily commute.
  • Flying at night on the first trip. Visibility over water is poor, and the Wasp has no autopilot.

What comes after Pearl Island

The next step is the second Caligo Cays region, then the Rime layer. The beginner guide covers the first two hours in order; this page is the location-specific version for players who want to clear the starting island properly.

If you are playing co-op, split the foundry: one player clears the yard, one clears the offices. The co-op guide covers shared storage and camp permissions.

FAQ

Where is Pearl Island in Atmosfar? In Caligo Cays, the starting region. It is the site of the opening tutorial and the PACE foundry.

Should I build my main base on Pearl Island? No. Build a starter camp there, then move once you have an airship and a Hauler.

What is inside the PACE foundry? Salvage, circuit boards, research items and a reactor room, defended by drones.

Can I return to Pearl Island later? Yes. The island stays accessible, and the reactor room is part of the ship chain.

Is Pearl Island the only starting area? It is the story start. Caligo Cays continues above it, and Rime arrives later in Early Access.
